Get TypeSeer working, then make it yours

Quick start

1. Install TypeSeer. Open the DMG, drag TypeSeer to Applications and launch it. TypeSeer lives in the menu bar rather than the Dock.
2. Download the recommended model. The measured Gemma 4 E2B base model is about 3.5 GB. TypeSeer downloads it once after you confirm; suggestions then run locally.
3. Grant Accessibility. Follow setup to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and switch TypeSeer on. This is the only macOS permission TypeSeer asks for.
4. Type and pause. Try “Thanks for your help with” in Mail, Notes or TextEdit. Grey text should appear after your cursor.

Accepting and dismissing suggestions

• Tab accepts the next word. Press it again to accept another.
• Double-Tab accepts two words normally. You can make a quick double-Tab accept the whole suggestion in Settings → General.
• Esc dismisses the suggestion and gives Tab back to the app.
• Keep typing to ignore it. If you type the offered text yourself, the suggestion stays and shortens without calling the model again.

TypeSeer never changes your text unless you accept a suggestion.

Personalization you can inspect

Personalization is optional. When enabled, TypeSeer learns vocabulary, names and phrasing only from sentences you finish. It never stores the sentence still in progress or a suggestion you ignored.

Open Settings → Context awareness → Personalization → Review Data… to:

• read every active learned sentence;
• see understandable evidence such as language, occurrences, application and source;
• export a readable JSON copy;
• delete one sentence without clearing everything; or
• clear the active learned collection.

Rejected suggestion text and internal ranking data are not included in Review Data or exports.

Personalize by website in browsers

This is a separate opt-in under Personalization. In supported browsers, TypeSeer can prefer writing learned on the same website, then fall back to browser-level and general writing. It stores only the normalized hostname — never the page path, search, title, port or account — and shows that evidence in Review Data and exports.

Custom instructions

The control adapts to the selected model:

• Default base model: paste a few example sentences in the voice you want TypeSeer to imitate.
• Compatible instruction-tuned model: write direct role, audience or tone guidance. These models can also enable grammar checking.

You can replace the global examples or guidance for any app TypeSeer has already seen using the per-app picker.

If no suggestion appears

1. Open the menu and check that Accessibility is granted and the model is ready.
2. Pause briefly after typing and place the cursor at the end of the line.
3. Check that suggestions are enabled globally and for the current app.
4. Try an ordinary writing field. TypeSeer deliberately skips passwords, address bars, search controls and other fields whose own completion uses Tab.
5. Finish any web address, email address or file path with a space. TypeSeer stays quiet inside them so it cannot repeat or rewrite part of an address.
6. Check that the trial or licence is active.

Some apps do not expose their text or caret position through macOS Accessibility. If a specific app is affected, tell us which app and field.

Privacy and offline use

Suggestions, spelling, context preparation and personalization all run on your Mac. Once the model is downloaded, prediction works without an internet connection. TypeSeer uses the network only for model downloads, update checks, licence checks, and opening the payment provider when you choose to buy or manage a licence. The Privacy page lists the exact data involved.
