TypeSeer for Windows

Which Windows apps TypeSeer works in

TypeSeer suggests in every app until you turn it off there. Here are the apps we’ve tested, the ones that don’t work yet, and the places it stays quiet on purpose.

Tested and working

  • Microsoft Word
  • Outlook, the classic app
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Discord
  • Edge, Chrome and Firefox, including web apps like Gmail and Outlook on the web
  • Claude, the desktop app
  • Notepad and Notepad++

Should work, not fully tested yet

  • The new Outlook
  • Slack

Every other app is on too. Most apps with an ordinary text box work. If one you use doesn’t, tell us which.

Not working yet

  • Excel. It doesn’t show other apps the text in a cell while you edit it.
  • Visual Studio Code. It doesn’t share the text you’re typing.
  • Renaming a file in File Explorer. There’s no cursor TypeSeer can find.

Where TypeSeer stays quiet on purpose

  • Password fields. Always.
  • Address bars, search boxes and small boxes with a list of their own. Two sets of suggestions would fight over Tab.
  • Web addresses, email addresses and file paths, while you type them.
  • Apps running as administrator. Windows keeps them apart from ordinary apps, and TypeSeer respects that.
  • Apps and websites you turned it off in. Use the menu in the notification area, or Settings → Apps.

If no suggestion appears

  1. Open TypeSeer’s menu in the notification area. The top line says whether the model is ready.
  2. Check TypeSeer isn’t turned off, everywhere or in the app you’re in.
  3. Check you’re not on battery with “Pause suggestions on battery” turned on.
  4. While a game is in front, the model rests. It’s ready again soon after.

The suggestion sits in the wrong place? Choose Calibrate Suggestion Position in the menu and move it. It stays moved. Looks doubled? Windows can draw its own grey text too. Turn Off Windows’ Own Suggestions… in the menu explains where to turn it off.
