Rewrite what you wrote, without sending it anywhere

Select some text, press ⌃⌥R and pick a style. TypeSeer rewrites it on your Mac, and shows you the new text before it replaces yours.

Pick a style

  • More formal for a client or a manager.
  • More relaxed for a colleague you know well.
  • Shorter when a message has grown too long.
  • Clearer when the point is getting lost.

Add your own styles too. Write the rule as you would tell a person, like “Use British spelling and no exclamation marks.”

Nothing selected? TypeSeer can rephrase all the text in the field instead, up to about a page at a time.

Grammar checking, while you type

Turn on grammar checking and TypeSeer underlines mistakes in blue once you pause. Fix one with a key, or right-click the underline in most apps. Every fix is shown before it’s made.

It’s good at everyday mistakes: agreement, tense, articles and apostrophes. It isn’t a professional editor.

Private by design

Both use Apple Intelligence, on your Mac. Your text isn’t sent to TypeSeer, to Apple or to any AI company. There’s nothing extra to download, and no extra memory used.

Compared with cloud writing tools like Grammarly

Grammarly and tools like it send your text to their servers to check it. In return they do much more: tone detection, plagiarism checks and team style guides. If you need those, they’re the better choice.

TypeSeer is for text that shouldn’t leave your Mac. Contracts, patient notes, HR emails, unreleased plans. It fixes the everyday mistakes and rewrites in the style you pick, and it finishes your sentences as you type, which a checker doesn’t do.

Apple’s own Writing Tools rewrite text too. How TypeSeer and Apple Writing Tools fit together explains the difference.

What you need

  • macOS 26 or later, with Apple Intelligence turned on.
  • TypeSeer for Mac. Turn on Rephrase and Grammar checking in Settings → Experimental.
Rephrase and grammar checking are experimental. They work, but they’re still changing. Some apps don’t show underlines, and a few, like Teams, won’t let TypeSeer change their text. There, the grammar key shows you the fix to make yourself.
