Comparison
A Text Blaze and Magical alternative that works outside the browser
Text Blaze and Magical started as snippet tools for the browser, where support and sales teams spend their day. TypeSeer is AI autocomplete for Mac and Windows with snippets built in, and it works in your desktop apps as well as the browser.
We make TypeSeer, so read this with that in mind. Text Blaze in particular does a lot that TypeSeer doesn’t, and we say what below.
The short answer
Stay with Text Blaze or Magical if your snippets pull data from web pages or fill in forms. Choose TypeSeer if you also write in desktop apps, want AI suggestions that stay on your computer, or want to pay once.
Try TypeSeer free for 14 days, with no account and no card.

Where TypeSeer is the better choice
- You write outside the browser. TypeSeer works in Mail, Outlook, Slack, Teams, Word and most other apps, not just web pages.
- You want help with the writing that isn’t a snippet. Grey text at your cursor shows how your sentence could go on. Press Tab to take it.
- You don’t want your writing to leave your computer. TypeSeer’s model runs on your Mac or PC, and there’s no account.
- You want to pay once. TypeSeer has a lifetime license. Text Blaze and Magical are subscriptions.
- You’d like spelling fixes in apps that have none of their own.
Where Text Blaze or Magical is the better choice
- Your snippets read from the page. Pulling a customer’s name out of a web app, or filling in a form, is what these tools are built for. TypeSeer can’t.
- Your snippets need forms, formulas or conditions. TypeSeer’s fill-in fields are plain text.
- You use a Chromebook, or an Intel Mac. TypeSeer needs Windows or a Mac with Apple Silicon.
- You want it free. Text Blaze has a free plan. TypeSeer is paid after 14 days.
- Your team already shares snippets there. TypeSeer for Business is still in beta.
Moving your snippets to TypeSeer
TypeSeer reads a CSV file with the shortcut in the first column and the text in the second. Make one in any spreadsheet app. Name the first column “trigger”, then save the file as CSV.
In TypeSeer, open Settings → Snippets, click Import Snippets…, and choose the file. Fill-ins written for Text Blaze or Magical come in as plain text, so rewrite those with TypeSeer’s placeholders.
How to decide
If your snippets mostly read data from web apps, stay where you are. If they’re mostly replies, sign-offs and boilerplate you type everywhere, try TypeSeer for a week. Its suggestions may end up saving you more than the snippets do.
